Explanation: Nestor Makhno was the de facto head of the anarchist faction in Ukraine during the Russian Civil War after the overthrow of the Tsar, and then the overthrow of the leftist elected government which succeeded the Tsar (it was a chaotic time).

Makhno was a very skilled military leader - having been involved in action against both Russian and Austrian imperialists for over a decade - and an idealist whose behavior was largely laudable and inspiring. This meme, however, is about a minor curiosity - that when he reconnoitered enemy positions, his preferred disguise was to dress as a woman. Who would expect the 'ard feared military commander in a shawl and a dress, after all!

Do explain why Makhno is not a “fascist” for doing that.

Do explain why Makhno is not a “fascist” for doing that.

… because Makhno wasn’t involved in the dissolution of the All-Russian Constituent Assembly, genius. He wasn’t even in the fucking country at the time.

Typical of both your politics and your meager understanding of history to come in here and simp for another overthrow of a democratically elected leftist government by red fascists, and to do so on historically faulty grounds.

Wasn’t he working outside (if not outright against) the short-lived elected provincial government at the time?

He was literally instrumental in leading an anarchist surge in the local organ of the provisional government and was one of the elected delegates of the regional Ukrainian congress.
