This is an experiment of the ages, we can blatantly see if human tampering with AI will really bias it to conform to specific worldviews its creators intend to or not, lol

I cant help but imagine a constant back and forth of Elon wanting Grok to be actually good and accurate, but also wanting it to agree with his inaccurate BS so he fixes it from being “stupid” which makes it inaccurate, so now he has to go back and undo what made it agree with his nonsense. Repeat forever.

Elon Musk is so bizarre. Bro, you won humaning. Just enjoy your global domination. Why are you trying to force the 4th Reich on us too? You won’t gain anything. As Arnold famously said, “get your ass to Mars” and leave us the fuck alone.

*it was a rhetorical question. Musk is barely human at this point.

Can you honestly imagine being that guy? Richest man on Earth, #1, fell face first into it. The power is, well, not something most of us can comprehend. I can try, but can’t really put myself in his shoes. Guessing he’s like most of us on lemmy, “bright normal”, no genius, but smarter than your average bear. If you’re here, sought out this place, can read a novel and follow along, you’re above average. That’s sad in itself as I had always thought that was “normal” intelligence. It ain’t.

Now combine that with the fact that given wealth and power (same thing), most all humans begin to believe the rules no longer bind them, because they don’t. I forget the psychological term for it, but it’s real.

Given Musk’s wealth, it would happen to me, you, anyone. I can’t hate the guy like I hate Trump. But I got my own, personal, reasons for hating narcissists.

Anyway, “But for the Grace of God go I.” Could be you, could be me. Let’s all think on that.

I take your point, but if I ever got even into the 100 millions level, I’d be living on my private yacht, journeying the world, making friends and living it up. Hell even the 10 millions level would be enough for me. I can’t even bother to organize friend group things. Why would I want to rule the world? I was brought up with the power=responsibility ethos. And I hate responsibility.

Oh dear God, no. Elmo is not smart, not smarter than average and definitely not the big brain he’s made out to be. He was fired from his own company for incompetence, for one. For another, any time he comes up with his own idea it’s very clear that it’s his idea because it’s so ridiculously stupid.

        Exhibit a: the cyber truck

Exhibit b: ballistic missiles to transport humans in 30 minutes around the globe

        Exhibit c: Hyper loop

        Exhibit d: Rockets on Teslas

All of these ideas are just plain stupid on so many levels that it’s hard to comprehend, yet people act like he is a god brain and it’s annoying the shit out of me.

This is ignoring the fact that every other word out of his mouth is a plain lie, but that is an entire chapter in on itself.

I disagree, dude always was a twat. He didn’t just happen to fall face first into it, like almost all CEOs he’s lied, cheated and stolen his way to the top but unlike most, managed to stay ahead of the legal consequences of his actions.

He’s manipulated public image and the media in a grand way in a time when media and opinion has more to do with stock prices than results. Tesla sold less than 5k cybertrucks in the last quarter, their stock price should’ve imploded but we no longer live in a world where the rich can fail if they have enough followers.

The systems fallen so far behind it stands virtually no chance of closing the Pandora’s box social media has created. People, especially the least educated and young need strong protections in place to keep them from latching onto lies and perversions of the truth. Unfortunately getting said system in place would require politicians who didn’t want to use social media to gain power.

If you’re one of those people who use “liberal” to mean a very bad no good corporate genocder, then no.

If so, where are you anyway? The only people I know who use it that way are college kids, people in the PNW and anyone outside the US.

Liberalism is a pro-capitalist ideology, which is center right at best. There’s an untenable tension with that part of the ideology and the civil rights aspects.

I am none of those things and had to sit a good friend down and calmly as possible explain to them that calling me a liberal is very insulting despite their good intentions, and helped them understand that they themselves are also not an “American Liberal”.

One thing Conservatives and Leftists can agree on is how much liberals suck. We just have to pretend to get along with them.

Yeah okay well, person from not the US, here’s the thing - “liberal” here, doesn’t mean what it apparently does there. So if you’ve convinced someone that it means something else there, then great - but here - if you go around shouting “Liberal!” at people you come off as a MAGAt fuckwit despite your no doubt bona fides lefty certifications. Because language is like that.

And it’s really, really, annoying. Because liberal is a good thing. For us. For our entire lives, liberals were the progressives, the people who made the world better.

Now a shit ton of people who don’t live here are screaming at us about being liberals. It’s a PITA. If you have to have a disclaimer for your bon mots it’s pretty self-defeating. Which is actually not a bad metaphor, really.

The American right seem to use ‘liberal’ and ‘leftist’ interchangeably, because they don’t know how words work.

Look, as someone who also grew up in the USA with the terms liberal and leftist being used synonymously, it’s us who use it the wrong way. I also have a tinge of offense when liberal is used as an insult or with negative connotations, at least at first. Then I remember what liberal actually means, what the people using it are probably saying based on context, and carry on. We can’t expect the whole world to use a word the way we’re used to it when the entire rest of the world uses that word in a different, agreed upon way.
