I’ll give an example. For some reason, every time I hear or think of the word nepotism, I think of the Greek god Poseidon. No idea how or why this happens. Have any other examples ?
nepotism, I think of the Greek god Poseidon.
But that is easily explained:
Once upon a time you have played with anagrams. These are not exactly anagrams, but you wished they were. And so you decided to remember it.
The word “topic” makes me think of pizza toppings cause it sounds similar
A few word pairs that are tightly related in my brain, but unrelated to everybody else.
I won’t tell them.
I use them for the “secret question / secret answer” thing with passwords. I will not forget them.
When the question is only one word, and the answer is unrelated, then no hacker can ever guess the correct answer.
Every time I hear nepotism, I see a mini Napoleon Bonaparte in my head… Weird, I know
Maybe Neptune is the missing step between nepotism and Poseidon for you?
This unexplained association between words has happened to me too; I just can’t remember anything at the moment. I’ll edit my comment when I do.
Yeah I’d imagine its the Neptune Roman connection. I was super into mythology and ancient civilization as a kid.
That seems like a form of
sex dailydyslexia, where the letters get jumbled up in your head. Although Nepotism and Poseidon don’t have all exactly the same letters, they are kinda close to being anagrams of each other. This is kinda tangential but I do a similar thing with sounds! When I listen to music for example I often associate the sounds I hear with different colors, shapes and other visuals in my mind for some reason, oftentimes very vividly. I’m unsure if this is something everyone does.
My sister does this! It’s called Synesthesia !
The Roman equivalent to the Greek Poseidon was Neptune.
I guess it’s not exactly the same, because it sort of is related, but I always get tripped up on “ancillary” because it is a totally inoffensive English word… except that the Latin word ancilla means “slave girl.”
Every time I’m counting to ten, the line from GTA V about ‘exactly ten’ cars being made pops in my head with the silly way he mimics Lamar’s speech.
“Aren’t there only, like, ten of these or something?”
“There ain’t like ten. There’s exactly ten, homie.”
Sometimes the word “Interesting” causes my brain to recall the character generation in Morrowind. The guy says something like ““Interesting. Now before I stamp these papers, make sure this information is correct.””
Oh thats funny. I have a ton of little things like that.
This post made me think of Richard Dreyfuss. I don’t know why
Yeah, you’re welcome
