let’s not pull a jordan peterson and redefine basic words, belief means accepting something as true (critics would argue, without a basis)
I believe in generosity, self control, avoidance of violence, the proper treatment of women and children, etc etc.
all good things, none of them require a belief in any god. although the “proper treatment of women” … is that limiting what they are allowed to do or enjoy, maybe that’s not quite good enough. also, do men not deserve “proper treatment”?
and belief in belief in a creator is “self evident” only to religious people. i used to see it that way too, but i think it’s the “god tinted glasses”, like the optimists’ rose tinted glasses, that distorted my view
