People are slowly losing access to real information, and its being replaced with whatever the epstine class decides is “real history” or the info that uses to be free and real, is now being replaced by desperate individuals who think history is “content” and nothing else.

One of the few upsides to ai is that our words kind of carry more weight now. Investors, and big companies used to have to pay a third party to get insights on what the public thought of their brand or product.

Now its instantaneous and accessible in google search, so when the entire internet calls it microslop it effects their bottom line. They only way to stop it is to flood the rest of the internet with pro ai propaganda, or start banning people on social media who display “wrong think.” Both of which these companies are increasingly doing. Half of then own their own news outlet that shits out ai generated propaganda that skews search/ai results. Ai now is filtering out your posts and shadow banning you or straight up banning you if you talk about Israels genocide.

There should be fines that scale exponentially for companies. So each time they get in trouble the fine will double so it becomes a problem fast, instead of a small fine they pay off once and a blue moon.

Its worth noting many of the YouTube channels you watch and enjoyed have been bought out in the past 6 years, and I think the information machine is finally catching up and understands it needs to own podcasters ans youtubers now that traditional media is dead.

Honestly I blindly say a lot of stuff but I don’t like how often I end up being right about it.

A tractor is still something on my list I want. I think I’d only ever be able to afford a old one like yourself and I imagine the relationship with the tractor to be adversarial at all times. Never use it until you need it and then you have to fight with it to work.

I meant more or less don’t buy a WiFi garage door opener that sends data off to your servers install a ZigBee switch yourself.

You want to look into frigate, and you don’t need much of a graphics card. You could use a old gaming PC with a gtx 1060 from 10 years ago.

There’s cameras with tensor cores in them too. I only played around with the pi ai camera but frigate uses the same yolo models. so you can have your camera process the image detection or the server’s GPU.

It doesn’t take as much as you think. Its when you want to generate content that its important you need lots of vram or cram the entire model into context.

I am the biggest ai hater I know but local models, and old school ai technologies before LLMs are pretty cool.

People are sympathetic to you at this point of time in their lives though. Because they precieve you as an ally in this context they will likely agree with you just to help bolster their own goal.

Maybe not today, or maybe not tomorrow you will see a change, but you should know you planted a little seed in their head. And if they spend anytime tilling around in their own head space garden that seed might just grow into an opinion. Sometimes it just takes them hearing the samething a couple more times from someone they trust before they start considering working it into their system of beliefs.

The maga party is weak right now, and people are becoming more and more open to straight up socalism. Maga coworkers, family members have been slipping up and saying some socialist shit without knowing it. They’re still backwards and racist sure but something’s changing in their lizard brains. A old youtuber I still kind of watch (kyle/fpsrussia don’t judge me) who is sort of a maga chud even talked about recently how he would vote for AOC of all people before voting for JD Vance as president.

I think this is the part where now they have a invested interest in the platform that hosts open source models they are going to start pushing the narrative that they need to be banned or “contained” and there’s going to be regulations to the point only they can host open source models.

So regulatory capture. We are going to start seeing a whole bunch of news about people using dangerous Chinese models to make slop, hack people, make deep fakes/ nudes of everyone, and make the claim that only they should be allowed to do those things. Only chatgpt and grok can hack Americans and make nudes of them without their consent.

They’re always going to blame Chinese models too, its never going to be the story about how these platforms incentivise this stuff in the first place, and how its just someone in a third world in south easy Asia gaming the algorithm using normal commercial LLM’s. They’re not going to talk about how they are the ones constantly breaking the law and fighting everyone tooth and nail to ensure that grok can still produce csam.

I like how they are trying to drag down other platforms with them. Not that they don’t deserve it, just shows they really do stop at nothing to tarnish their name at every turn.
