Didn’t you know? Every landlord is a monster stealing from people who get absolutely no benefit from the arrangement. At least here on Lemmy, that is.

You can tell when people haven’t experienced home ownership before. It’s definitely a “grass is greener” thing, but owning a home is a major pain in the ass in many ways. I actually work with a few people who sold theirs and went back to renting because of it. I’d join them if we didn’t have more pets than the city allows.

The equity thing is always brought up, but any gains you make because of market fluctuations are only good for taking out loans, or making a profit when you go back to renting. The other houses on the market have increased in value along with it. Plus, any maintenance expenses are just keeping your house from losing value.

  • I’ve been the recipient of such a document, and I was absolutely grateful. I’ve also been the recipient of absolutely no documentation. And I’ve written one and had it be appreciated when I laterally moved positions, which the 3 people who replaced me appreciated.

Depending on the enterprise environment and role, it can take up to 2 years to fully learn the system without such a document. Especially if it’s an esoteric field.
