Very demure, very mindful.

First we start by using language correctly. It’s not a song. It’s a stream of audio data which has been algorithmically extruded out of a massive training dataset (which is most likely comprised of stolen content). We then only perceive it to be a song because the audio data as interpreted by our brain is similar to actual songs we’ve heard.
Billboard, just like every other organization which offers a content platform, should ban generated synthetic data files. They are taking the place of actual art created by actual artists and it’s utterly ridiculous.

For a paid (very reasonable imho) platform, I’m a huge fan of Nebula. A number of creators, some large and some not so large, I was following or would like to follow on YT are there, so I get to support them and stay off YT at the same time. Win/win!

A mind that’s vulnerable enough to openly talking about contemplating suicide is a mind that should be nowhere near a stochastic parrot. It is wildly dangerous.

If by “search” you mean Google. I’ve been using DuckDuckGo for close to a decade. It’s been pretty good. Kagi is now even better.

So we have two problems: SEO gamification and now slopification. Expecting the same sorts of companies who let these problems become existential to fix these problems is…well, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell ya. 😂

The reason there’s “all the crap” is because genAI is destroying the fabric of the open web.
We need to support tools like Kagi, discussion forums and chat rooms where real people help, and be proactive in posting solutions and tutorials on indie blogs which simultaneously block AI crawlers. GenAI tooling is fundamentally unethical and unsustainable; regurgitating other people’s content while harming the environment. I understand you have a need to search for some solutions to some problems. That’s fine. What’s not fine is reaching for the destroyer of worlds. I encourage you to find alternative methods.

Seems like a PM at Google looked at the godawful Apple Image Playground and thought “Oh wow we need that!”
Why? WHY??!! 😭
Yeah, the music industry has always been highly exploitative. There was a brief period of awesomeness in the late 90s/early aughts where indie music found real success through the Internet. How times have changed…so much for the worse. 😭
