The US air force will provide military funeral honors to Ashli Babbitt, the rioter fatally shot during the January 6 Capitol attack, marking another step in Donald Trump’s aggressive rehabilitation of the attack.
The under secretary of the air force, Matthew Lohmeier, confirmed the decision in an August letter to Babbitt’s family. The Biden administration previously denied Babbitt the honors, but Lohmeier said he was “persuaded that the previous determination was incorrect” after reviewing new information about her death.
Babbitt, 35, served in the air force and air national guard and was shot by Capitol Hill police as she climbed through a barricaded door near the House chamber in the mass frenzy to overthrow the results of the 2020 election. The air force had originally refused honors in February 2021, according to Lohmeier’s letter, saying they would “bring discredit upon the Air Force” due to the circumstances of her death. She was the only person killed by gunfire during the riot.
Terrorist killed in the attack on the Capitol.
Bitch died a traitor attempting to attack Congress. She broke her oath.
After reviewing new information about her death.
She was killed when breaking into a secure facility in a failed attempt to help Trump stage a self-coup. What information about her death has come to light that could possibly change that?
Lol.
She’s still dead.
That’s all I care about.
This seems like they are trying to honor a traitor but it’s really not. They don’t give two shits about her or any of their followers. They’re just doing this to piss off everyone on the left while showing their followers that they will be honored if they do the same.
That’s literally them trying to honor a traitor. What the fuck are you on about?
Of course it fucking is and that’s not what I’m saying. I’m just saying that they actually don’t give a shit about their base either and will gladly use them just like anyone else to push their bullshit even posthumously. I’m saying that they are not honoring her in the sense that they don’t actually honor her as a person.
They’re not honoring her because they feel like she deserves it, they’re honoring her because it pisses you off and validates their fanboys.
This seems like they are trying to honor a traitor but it’s really not
Is this not you?
Yes, it is. Was my word choice poor? Probably, yeah. But I feel like my second comment clears that up. What I should have said was “this seems like it is about trying to honor her but it’s really not.” I apologize if my wording was confusing. In my head I was using “honor” as in honoring someone you respect and was not thinking of the actual official act of honoring someone in the military.
Oh yeah. Maga doesn’t actually respect anything
