    Worth noting, the PS2 was a decent DVD player and the PS3 was a bargain Blu-ray player. That definitely helped!

    Begs the question, then what was the PS1? Bargain VCD player, but only in Japan. The former wasn’t adopted in North America or Europe. You could make an NTSC or PAL PS1 play them though. They were just CDs with MPEG-1 video on them. 80 minutes a disc, quality was a little lower than VHS. I had the first Harry Potter on VCD. Two discs!

    9/10 from Japan

    I know all the reasons it is the way it is, but still kinda crazy for one country to dominate in any sector like this. Microsoft potentially only gets a look in because Sony fumbled the PS3 and left an opening
