    I saw a goose like this years ago, maybe when I was a kid or young adult. it hung out with the Canadian geese, but was only tolerated and unwelcomed to get close. I think I only saw it the one year. I looked around for answers but only looked for birds native to NA. I had decided that it was a hybrid between a Canadian goose and snow. goose. Thank you for the post and solving an old mystery.

      @ShyFae Domestic geese are descended from greylags, so if you saw one in North America, that’s probably what it was. Some breeds look very close to their wild ancestors.

      Hybrids do occur, but snow X Canada doesn’t really look like this.
