Why use apps instead of a browser and why hop?
There are still fully functioning phpbb forums out there if forums are your thing, not to mention that the fediverse can just be forked and remain in existence if someone tries to steal it.

You should do that in the privacy of your home.

I don’t even mind limited ads, but i take great care of avoiding toxic users. And so far small platforms are normal.

I received weird dms on reddit, sex bots, one guy thirsting over the idea that i’d be a girl for him. I still use old forums and I never got a problem with them.
