It is somewhat discouraging to learn ya don't have the patience anymore to paint as good as you used to, but having fun is still the important part of it (I missed painting so bad)

I’m normally the way too, but figuring out how to harness hyperfocus (I’m ADHD) and systems theory (mostly Atomic Habits style stuff) and SMART goals I’m now pretty good at getting me to do stuff.

Not so much ~30+ years ago.
