Snowy and Long Ear both had slim wins over their first opponents. I had thought the Snowy would come in with more dominance than it did, while Long Ear, who can be hit or miss in the dailies and tournaments surpassed Dusky Eagle, which usually polls higher.
The Snowy Owl’s arrival is anticipated by many each year and it heads down to us from the Arctic. Long Ears also migrate, but don’t get as much fanfare as it’s not from such forbidding territory.
Their long distance journeys make them able to be found in many parts of the Northern Hemisphere.
The starlet or the shivery skies is looking to make it to the top 4 again this year for the third time in a row. The more svelte and dignified looking Long Ear is still aspiring to reach greater heights in the community and is ready to prove itself. This is actually really hard for me. I love Snowies, but Long Ear really needs more love. They are great owls. 🧡

The only owl native to my country that I’ve never seen. I would love to see a long ear some time. We rarely get visiting snowys, but it’s an extremely rare sighting. This is a tough vote but I’m voting longy.
Long Ear is also the one native to my state I’ve yet to see, though I have seen a stuffed one in a museum.
I only half count the Saw Whet I saw too, as it was hiding so deep in the corner of its aviary that I could really only see its eyes. 👀

Mottled Wood vs BnW was interesting! I was curious which pattern was going to win out. I probably lean a little more MW. I showed the wife the contest and she said she abstained from picking a favorite because she felt both were way too creepy looking for her tastes! 😅
MW is probably a little easier for me to find pics of, but I don’t think that influences my opinion, I just like the brighter colors of the MW.
I was excited here to see Long Ear take the initial lead over Snowy, though that did not last too long as of this point. I love Snowy, as likely everyone here does, but I’ve been trying to make Long Ear happen for a while now without much luck. It’s always my pic for the owl I think you guys would like based on all its features, but still goes relatively underappreciated.
If Long Ear moves on, I think that could be a battle between BnW, but if it’s BnW vs Snowy, well, best of luck Mr BnW! 😆
