Does not look promising for Williams. Sainz is probably not thrilled by his prospects for winning with this team.
I can’t blame him. Absolutely horrible from Williams and Vowles has to take some serious criticism for some of his hires.
I thought it especially interesting in light of the Albon extension. Completely different vibes.
Albon knows he isn’t going to get a better deal. He’s been shown up a bit by Sainz and I can’t see any top team going for him, so it makes sense. Sainz still clearly has ambition, although I personally think he’s not going to get another top chance, barring maybe at Aston if they get their shit together eventually and Alonso retires.
I agree I don’t think he’s getting a chance with a top team. Despite the setback this season Williams is still in at least as good a place as Audi, Aston or Cadillac, and maybe better.
Cadillac yes, but long/medium-term I would wager both Audi and Aston will be better off.
