The policies have never been the issue. It’s getting actual leftist, pro-worker messaging through the hall of mirrors and smoke that is corporate media.
Rep tend to be pro fam, but more anti-stuff than pro-anything, so this tracks. The benefits help out workers and thier fam, plus anti-data center.
Simplified, it reads like a very Rep platform.
If progressives don’t focus too much on the how, or their other social objective, they could def rake in some right leaning votes, no problem.

I don’t think that’s true outside of their own rhetoric. Their actual lived lives and actions are definitely not pro family.
I think that the Republican_ voters_ are actually pro family. The policies that get enacted by their representatives are pro rich with a thin paint of pro family.
That’s not to say that the voters aren’t also often racist, authoritarian, or ignorant among other things that I believe ultimately damages families. They are pro what they have been brainwashed to believe the family to be and what is in the best interest of the family. We just need to demonstrate that progressive policies make their lives better faster and more efficiently than the ones their authorities insist on.
Almost all the people I know who still believe in beating their kids and calling it a “correction” or “discipline” are generally on the religious Republican/conservative end of the political spectrum. Enforcing gender roles is more typical of Republicans/conservatives. Maintaining an unhappy marriage, which teaches unhealthy relationships to the children, because “my marriage is a promise to God!” is more typical of Republicans/conservatives. Etc, etc, etc.
I’m just saying that they think (or have been brainwashed to think) they are doing what is best for the kids and family. Its just hard to argue that the person literally helping you to provide for that same family (progressive policies in action) isn’t also helping.
Pro their own family.
It’s not that they could; they do. Progressives have consistently been better at getting support from the right than centrists.
