When the devs drop the ball, the fans pick it back up.
Call me when they remake it in the Myth engine.
Myth TFL? That’s a blast from the past. I’m pretty sure the sequel would still run on a modern PC. I think I’ll dig it out and give it a try.
So last week my boss gave me 4 older laptops and I was looking for games that would work on Thinkpad T420s with Mint.
I got Myth II running on those 4 Linux machines and 2 Macs. I have 3 friends to LAN party it with.
Check out Project Magma.
They’ve been doing the work for decades now to keep the game alive. You need a “disc” to install (available on myabandonware.com), but they have installers that do all the heavy lifting of getting it to work on modern machines.
Then the two must-have plug-ins are Twice Born Edition, which gives you upscaled graphics and The Fallen Lords: Deluxe Edition, which gives you the Myth:TFL campaign in Myth II: Soulblighter. I also installed about 80 co-op/solo scenario plug-ins to play too, but you don’t have to unless you want to. Siege of Belial and The Long Journey series look pretty fun but haven’t tried them yet.
I fucking loved Myth as a kid and I am absolutely stoked that I can play it again.
