TL;DR:

  • Directed by Kai Ikarashi (responsible for episode 6 of season one)
  • Standalone story
  • 10 episodes
  • “A raw chronicle of redemption and revenge”
  • “I wasn’t satisfied with the sadness… so I want you to be even more sad now.” - Bartosz Sztybor (writer/producer of both seasons)

Super excited for this, and I wasn’t expecting it at all. I loved CP2077 but season 1 of Edgerunners was even better than I was expecting.

Those of us familiar with studio Trigger were not at all surprised.

They’ve had some misses, but they make anime with a real passion for the medium.

When Edgerunners was first announced, it was a headscratcher, because it made you go “thefuck, why would Trigger take on licensed slop?”. Shoulda known it was because they were being allowed to actually do something with it.

If you want to see more of their work, I recommend the two Star Wars Visions episodes they made, as well as the first season of their Dungeon Meshi adaptation.
