    What you’re witnessing here is described in When Prophecy Fails, a study on cults and how they justify continued belief after experiencing events that should disprove their belief.

    Cult members will simply invent new reasons to continue their belief and remove the cognitive dissonance they may feel, which oddly results in a further entrenched belief, instead of a weakened one.

      The good news is the further down this rabbit hole you fall, the harder you make your own life. Ignoring reality always makes life more difficult. You can only effectively and safely ignore reality if you’re filthy rich, which I’m thinking this bridge troll is not.

      We get mad because we see them sticking their heads in the sand and ignoring problems, but they’re really just creating more problems for themselves.

      I try to focus on that to give me some joy in dark times.

        I’ve watched a few of my old friends who were hardcore right wingers life fall apart recently. They are all losing their jobs and moving in with their parents or just dissapearing it seems…
