Has anyone else ever had those days where everything feels just slightly out of step? Almost like when the audio is a fraction of a second behind/ahead of the video, but in real life? And the colors are slightly off too?

That sounds like sleep deprivation. I went for 72+ hours without sleep at uni and it was very much that.

Maybe. I’ll try to pay more attention the next time it happens to see how tired I am. But I stopped staying up so late decades ago.

To be fair, I lay in the bed asleep. There really isn’t much I can do that I’m not already doing (e.g. cpap, keeping the room cool, weighted blanket, etc). But once I’m asleep, it’s out of my hands at that point.

Are you sure that’s not just a migraine? They don’t always involve pain, but what you’re describing sounds a lot like a migraine aura.

I wish it were that simple. I think my brain is simply broken. As an example, I’m sitting at my desk just now working when out of nowhere I just had a pain in my upper arm that felt like someone driving a fucking needle through my arm.

Are you taking care of the simple things we tend to lock in and forget? Like drink some water and stand up to stretch (or just move around a little)?

Just to rule out the easier things…

I’m about to get on my computer to start work for the day and I’ll start having weird things happen if I don’t make myself unclench. Usually my back, neck, or legs get the weird pain.

This is at least 300 quadrillion times less anxiety than I feel on average every day
