Web Developer by day, and aspiring Swift developer at night.
Pretty sure Apple Intelligence is a play on Artificial Intelligence, and not Military Intelligence.
How much of that is third-party libraries, and/or third-party hosted? Obviously the assets (images and music) aren’t being counted.
There’s also the argument that “if we don’t do it, somebody else would,” and I kind of understand that, while I also disagree with it.
I did look up an article about it that basically said the same thing, and while I get “lie” implies malicious intent, I agree with you that fabricate is better than hallucinating.
Why do we call it hallucinating? Call it what it is: lying. You want to be more “nice” about it: fabricating. “Google’s AI is fabricating more lies. No one dead… yet.”
This is a common problem when testing time-based software. And similarly why it’s difficult to test database-drive software. You have to put a lot of effort into setting up a good environment for testing and genuinely understand the software and its dependencies.
That reminds me of the duck story. You’re welcome/I’m sorry. 🤣
I mean, maybe. But at the same time, they are the authoritative source for all things Apple. I’m sure they do downplay or exaggerate things, but that doesn’t mean they’re outright lying about everything. Then again, you could say that about any company in any sector. Be it Apple, Google, Samsung, or someone else, if you really don’t trust them, why do you use them?
That’s a never-ending death spiral of paranoia you won’t get away from. The only way to get close is to go 100% off-grid, no technology, no human contact, grow your own everything. Maybe that’s for some people, and kudos to them. But that’s not for me.
Pick your battles. Don’t sweat the petty stuff (nor pet the sweaty stuff). Also, don’t post anything you wouldn’t want the world to see if Tech Giant were to be hacked.
Also:
Be proactive and not reactive.
Out of curiosity, which joke are you referring to?
I lack the creativity, but someone please come up with a recursive acronym for Stallman.
I took it more of an Apache Indian thing.
What if we are already serving our “1,000 year sentence” and instead we’re unknowingly developing a way to go deeper into the inception?
Looks like they caught on. It no longer spews its prompt. At least, not for me.
I mean if I had more body confidence, I’d be down for a quick jaunt through a garden.
You could say that about all of our technology. What are we supposed to do? Run around gardens wearing fig leaves and talk to snakes while eating apples?
It looks like you can trade up to a newer supported device, or get a 50% off coupon, depending on whether you’re a subscriber or not.

To soften the blow, Google’s offering a free indoor wired Nest Cam to Dropcam owners who subscribe to Nest Aware. Nonsubscribers will get a 50 percent-off coupon. The promotion runs until May 7, 2024, so you can keep using your Dropcam until it stops working.
Still sucks, but it’s better than having a paperweight in your hands. Also note:
Google will ship you a prepaid recycling box if you ask.
This right here. It is so far gone, and deeply entrenched into how society works at fundamental levels, that it is impossible to avoid any mega corporations and their influence on how we live (not just tech companies too).
I know that pointing fingers does nothing to help, but this really is Reagan’s fault with his so-called trickle down economics.
At this point, I’m surprised anybody (including myself) still buys/uses Google services, given how risky it is that you’ll become dependent on them and then they kill off the product(s). I really need to get off my ass and switch mail providers.
