The comment indeed seems harsh, but let’s still discuss this.

Monthly reminder seems fine, if it’s not, I’m happy to discuss it with the mods, but they left the previous one (https://piefed.zip/post/557460) so I assume they still tolerate that frequency.

you add NOTHING to the conversation other than “join [email protected]! Look at me! Join [email protected]! Look at me! Join [email protected]!”

I regularly contribute to [email protected] . Most newcomers aren’t aware of the existence of [email protected] , so having that monthly post seems relevant.

I’m also not the only one doing this, here’s an example from a couple of weeks back: https://lemmy.world/post/37772021 ( @[email protected] )

If we just look at how both communities are managed

    • [email protected] has weekly discussion threads, dedicated movies threads, and an overall activity of 1.3k weekly users
    • [email protected] doesn’t have regular active posters, no discussion thread, and an overall activity of 464 weekly.

New joiners want to see the most active community, they want to avoid https://lawsofux.com/choice-overload/

Posters want to post to a place where there is an audience, it gets tiring to should into the void, and that’s why you see less and less people sharing on the weekly [email protected] thread.

You bring up old stuff, like when we used the script to pinging subscribers of [email protected] before moving to [email protected] in March 2025, eight months ago. We apologized for that, said it would never happen again, and it indeed never happened again.

I’m not going to answer the personal attacks, but they don’t really seem to contribute to a good faith conversation.
