Considering he called it quits early

Let me rephrase, then - do you not remember how Bernie performed in 2020 before he dropped out of the primary?

I was a Bernie supporter. I am a Bernie supporter. I campaigned hard for him, both in 2016 and 2020. And seeing my fellow Americans - and worse, Dems, who are the less right-wing of this fucking population - express overwhelming apathy in 2020 was heartbreaking.

Anyone that supports either of the major parties can get fucked.

Okay, now that you’ve excluded a majority of the US population from your calculations, what’s our next fucking step

Re-education on how these fuckers have been destroying everything and making everyone’s lives worse for decades all to keep helping those at the top. Maybe they toss is a crumb every once in a while, but not one big enough that will piss off donors. You start by turning everyone against the ruling class cause this is class war, not team sports, and the major parties are on the wrong side of this war.

        Okay.

Will simultaneously ceding all power to fascists assist that effort?

You start by turning everyone against the ruling class cause this is class war, not team sports, and the major parties are on the wrong side of this war.

Okay, now that you’ve told minorities that their concerns about being murdered by fascists don’t matter, what’s our plan to appeal to the socially conservative white working class in America?

This is heavy with snark, but much of it is exhaustion - as much as I would love a ‘pure’ left-wing movement in the US, the fact is both that millions of lives are at stake in the short-term, and that long-term success will be assisted by the shithead ‘moderates’ who would like to pretty-please not open the fucking gas chambers in the next four years.

There’s a reason minority demographics are amongst the most reliable Dem voters, and it’s not because the party does right by them. It’s because US minorities realize full fucking well what the alternative is.

You point out how their lives never get better no matter who is in charge. It just gets worse at different rates. Prices never go down, just up at a different speed. Your pay might go up, but nowhere near the same rate that everything else goes up in price at. Sure some will play lip service with a nice gift that the next person will just take away cause nothing is actually a guaranteed right, just a short privilege that will be taken away eventually. This is how I got my friends and family to stop supporting these demons and start advocating for people that want to actually help people that aren’t rich or middle class.

You point out how their lives never get better no matter who is in charge. It just gets worse at different rates.

Putting aside the accuracy of that statement, as it is a commonly held and popular position, the question then must be asked - to what conclusion does that statement lead people?

Because having grown up in a very conservative area, and then moved to a fairly liberal area, I can promise you that the top three American responses to acceptance of that statement do not include a conversion to total unconditional opposition to the major US parties.

I would regard the most common reactions as

            1. “Of course, that’s how it’s always been, all politicians are bastards and nothing can be done about it.” The less bootlicking of conservatives fall here, but also a very large number of otherwise unconservative working-class folk.

            2. “That’s because the liberals/Jews/welfare queens/lizardpeople are controlling things, if Real Conservatives were in charge, then we would enjoy prosperity like in the Good Old Days.” Despite the sneering usage of conspiracy here, I actually hear this more broadly than just from the far-right - many Americans seem to think there was a prior configuration of the US that was not economically fucked, and that all we need to do is get back to that.

            3. “That’s because it’s not the job of the government to improve your life, it’s your job.” Conservatives, especially working class white conservatives, will bark this bootstrap line all day long, but many non-conservatives working class folk will parrot a similar line. Reliance on government is seen by many as a failure, despite the ubiquity of government services in our day-to-day lives.

That’s not even getting into folks who wouldn’t buy that line - for valid or invalid reasons. Or more deeply rooted responses - like “That’s because the world is sinful and has been going downhill ever since Christ died and the apocalypse will come any day now”

Not only that, but that doesn’t address the ‘millions of minorities being murdered’ problem, nor does it answer whether ceding power to fascists helps the cause of agitation and education.

Minorities are murdered by the shiploads no matter who is in charge. It’s just that some can hide it better and might focus more on murdering them overseas (see everything with Israel). As for fascists, you only give them as much power as you let them. Actually fight them physically and see how fast they chicken out. It’s why they focus more on going after unarmed people, especially unarmed protestors. If protestors brought guns to every event, they’d be getting stepped on less by fascists. I stead too many morons believe in peaceful protests bringing about the change needed when change only comes from violence.

                Jesus fucking Christ.

The privilege - and lack of introspection - to be able to say shit like that is absurd.

The fact you only care about minorities here and not those outside America just shows how little you actually care about them. If you actually valued their lives, you’d value ALL of their lives and not just the American ones.
