To put the headline in perspective:
Despite all the numbers being down, Black Ops 7 was still the best-selling game in terms of units and revenue in Europe for the week ending November 16 (its launch week). Battlefield 6, it’s main competition right now, came in fourth in both units sold and overall revenue.
Even with huge drop, COD is still raking in cash. While I personally think the current direction of COD is terrible, these sales numbers are unlikely to be some kind of fundamental course correction wakeup call to the publishers.
What people still see in this joke of a franchise I will never understand.
Its too big to fail at this point. Everyone plays it because everyone plays it.
Marketing too. There used to be regular commercials for it all the time.
Many, many things in this world make people wonder ‘How is this a thing?’ I don’t know of any where the answer isn’t simply, ‘Idiots exist.’
Because there’s not really any other series that has been able to compete and scratch the same itch. Battlefield is not competition, the scale of combat much larger even though it has been getting smaller. That said, if we’re counting all the cod games that came out in the past few years, they still have a player base and honestly I think they play better than all the changes the recent games have made.
Are there any differences in gameplay? Show me a clip of any of the last 3-4 CoD games and I won’t be able to say which is which.
7?! Wow time flies
I don’t understand why they released BO7 so soon after 6. Also seeing 7 after the name reeks of cash grab when it comes to games with reputation like theirs.
