    Your title says “AI data centers” but the data says “data centers.” Not all data centers are set up for AI.

    It’s wild that Oregon is 33% but Washington is only 6%. I work security at a data center in Washington and figured there would be more here. It’s nice to be wrong.

    I roll my damn eyes pretty much daily when I look at the 2+ years of construction this place has undergone to prepare itself for AI.

      exactly this. all “data is beautiful” and “nice graphs” communities often present some pretty shitty data and graphs.

      You ought to see the massive ones they are putting in at Boardman Oregon. They are stupid huge and they do nothing productive but suck power.

      us-west-2

      us-west-1 is the much smaller (and more expensive) SFO region.

    It’s so impressive that AI was already consuming 15% of electricity in these places in 2015, before the AI craze hit 🙄🙄🙄

    This energy production and AI activities should be counted as negative GDP as it is a complete waste and will require more effort and money to fix the damages later on.
