I took these a few days after posting my last heron photos and didn’t want to spam here. A few months went by and I forgot.
I love these birds. They’re so fun to watch wade around and hunt. It would truly be terrifying to be a small fish when this thing has you in its sights.







For a bird that doesn’t look like they should be able to fly, they sure are graceful after that initial flap or two. Great shots!
They are definitely beautiful in the air. When I was a kid when I saw them flying overhead i thought that that was what pterodactyls must have looked like. Their call was what i imagine filled the Jurassic.
As I grew older fishing with them on the bank watching them i saw the beauty of an expert fisherman. Far better than I.
