minus-squaresaltesc@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up15·edit-24 days agoI get asked about my dogs a lot because of their rarity outside of Finland, people want to know the breed. “They’re Finnish Lapphunds.” Always sounds fancy, but if you take away the geography bit, you’re just left with ‘hund’, or in English, ‘a dog’. No traits, no job, no specific breeding to the name, just ‘a dog, found in these parts.’ Hell, my oldest one’s dad lives in a junkyard in the woods in Finland. Lovely nature. Excellent outdoor companion in the snow 🥰
