Verge Motorcycles, the Finnish electric motorcycle manufacturer known for its futuristic hubless rear wheel design, is claiming another massive first...
The base price was 37k euro I believe. Honestly, after reading through the comments and watching the video, my “scam hackles” were a bit raised. Not to mention, it would probably be a pain to change that back tire (most bikes allow you to just take if off, but I can’t see how you could do that with the way it’s set up).
“The bike retains its signature 1,000 Nm of torque”
Sorry, but no one can ride a motorcycle with 1000nm of torque. That’s 800% the fastest Ducati.
The hub driven rear is a gimmick. Also, what is the point in putting 33 kwhr 600km of range on a bike they say can charge in 10 minutes? Would make sense to use a 10kw/hr battery, 200km range and save >10000 euro in price, and charge in 5 minutes or less. You are basically carrying around a big expensive battery for no reason. The rear wheel is about as difficult as some BMWs.
I give them 24 months before they go broke. No one is buying overpriced ebikes, see Energica.
In a hub motor, the torque is measured at the wheel (since the motor is directly attached to the wheel). In ICE motorcycles, the torque figure mentioned is engine torque so to get the wheel torque, we have to multiply by the gear ratio, drive ratio, etc. In terms of actual wheel torque, I don’t expect much difference between this and desmosedici bikes from Ducati. Just that with the electrical motor, you can apply the full torque instantly
I’ve wanted an electric motorcycle ever since I first saw the “el Ninja” conversion forever ago.
Didn’t see a (suggested) price listed, so the devil’s in the dollar signs.

India’s ultraviolette is $4800.

Yeah, I’ll believe it when you can buy it and/or someone reviews an actual bike.
They say that delivery is set for Q1/2026. If this is true, we should see the first tests in the next two or three months.
