An experimental mRNA treatment has converted the liver into an immune cell “nursery” that pumped out greater numbers of healthy T cells in mice. Since the immune system has a powerful effect on other things like organ health and inflammation, it is hoped that such a treatment in humans might significantly expand our “healthspan”, keeping us healthier and more disease-free later in life.

You know, we’re at a point where news like this does not make me hopeful but rather sad instead. Because all I can think about is the fucking billionaire scum living even longer.

I hope they call it a vaccine when it comes our for people, so that the antivaxers have to choose between death and hypocrisy.

Knowing them, they will definitely choose death. They already do.

It’ll be hypocrisy for sure. One anecdote I can offer: after the COVID vaccine had been available for a while in our local hospitals (in FL) were flooded by a wave of antivax elderly people who felt it was safe to go out and socialize again even though they were unvaccinated (because it would give them 5G or whatever). One flustered doctor or nurse (I don’t recall) suggested that the hospital set up a tent outside where the unvaxxed people could instead go and just use WebMD on a kiosk since they’d already shown they weren’t interested in following the recommended medical intervention).

At this point, it seems like we should have super mice that live forever; we seem to have cured all their issues, as well as a bunch they’ve never experienced in nature.

Interestingly enough the vet has yet failed to treat any of my sick gerbils I’ve taken there and they’ve all died. Technically not a mouse but a mole but still.

Good thing the US cut all funding for mRNA vaccines .

Just in time for another stem cell situation. Set ourselves back at least a decade in research for no goddamn fucking reason.

No thanks. Not at least until we get a solid grip on dementia, Alzheimers, and Parkinsons. Clinically alive, but dead inside is not for me.

That’s what this would do. Reducing inflammation has been shown to reduce dementia. In fact studies have shown that people who have gotten routine vaccinations throughout their lives are at lower risk of getting Alzheimers.

I think it’s hard to overstate how important strong immune function and inflammation control is to just about everything else in the body. I sort of think that by 2050 we’ll have identified that inflammation is the moderator for just about every process in the body.

We already have ? Alzheimer’s is chronic lack of sleep + cholesterol, Parkinson’s is pesticides.
