Apple will eventually notify the occupants of the vehicle that an unkonwn BLE marker is in their proximity for XX time, but, perhaps they won’t find it or know about it. They are pretty fucking stupid.

    It’s cryptographically impossible. The purchase history is much more attack surface.

      What are you talking about?

      If your phone remembers your airtags, and your phone is linked to an account, then they have a record of that. None of that requires anything encrypted. We’re not talking about tracking anything directly, it’s simply pulling the record that your phone registered the airtag previously.

        Realistically, if someone is doing this seriously, they’ll get a burner phone and account. So that wouldn’t really matter because the trail will be cold/difficult to trace back
