My whole life I’ve been told that if you fall asleep in the bath then you’ll drown, or something. But is this true? I’m a grown ass adult I think I’d just wake up if my head fell under water

Cool! I’m not entirely sure because I know little about it, but you may have actually brought up a valid point! It’s a shame we had to climb a mountain of snark and smartassery to get to that possibility.

It’s a battle of evolution: we lost our ability to do that, but have a decent reflex to catch ourselves from danger. It’s why I don’t fall off a bed. Even when that bed is a hammock on top of a tree.

I’m happy we came to consensus.

Also now I’m nostalgic for tree sitting and arbor work. Be well internet stranger. Please set a timer on your phone when you sleep in the bath because hypothermia can fuck you up even in “room temp” water and cause nerve damage.

I pulled too many drunks/opiod users/babies out of too many bathtubs as an EMT.
