Murdoch has a real hard on for the royal family too.

Which is not to say we should support the royal family because he hates them. Defend them from unfair attacks, but don’t support everything about them because of it, as liberals are wont to do with everything.

Epstein’s advisers told him at one point when he was trying to rehabilitate his image after his sweetheart federal deal let him off the hook legally that murdoch’s papers were just on him because of his associations with the royal family there.

I am trying to remember it was some firm that was advising him that was in the news last year I think.

That hasn’t been true since 2018. (And in my experience (about a decade working at Sky), not that you’ll believe me, there was practically zero influence when it was - not least because James Murdoch had very different views to his father.)

While I wouldn’t miss them, monarchies are a lot more resilient than that. Most monarchies have survived worse. And it’s not even Charles himself who’s implicated. Even if he was, he could simply abdicate. Constitutional monarchies can be very pragmatic about this sort of thing.
