European leaders divided over how far to accommodate Trumpās āwrecking ballā politics and foreign policy
US Democrats will use a security summit this weekend to urge European leaders to stand up to Donald Trump, with the continent divided over how to keep the unpredictable US president on side.
Democrats at the annual Munich Security Conference will include some of Trumpās most outspoken critics, such as the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, the New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Arizona senator Ruben Gallego and the Michigan governor, Gretchen Whitmer.
Newsom has already urged Europeans to realise that āgrovelling to Trumpās needsā makes them ālook pathetic on the world stageā, telling reporters at the World Economic Forum in Davos last month he āshould have brought a bunch of knee padsā.
I donāt want president Gavin Newsom either, but I donāt see how anyone could possibly think āA reality TV businessman billionaire whoās BLUE on the TV charts is what this country needs right nowā
I just like him because he at least understands there is a serious problem with healthcare in this country and it needs changed. While I dont doubt heās probably not for universal, if weāre not going to get a actual leftist. Heād be the one I choose
And he also said tariffs hurt every American and we are the ones who pay it.
I mean, I hope we donāt end up in a situation where heās the guy on the ballot. I really donāt think a billionaire is going to fix much. I donāt think they should be an actual thing that exists, but thatās beside the point. Iād vote for an actual working class champion in the primary though and hope to get the opportunity to vote for them in the main election. And if it ended up being a billionaire on the ballot vs. another MAGA, obviously Iām voting for the candidate that has the best chance defeat the MAGA because I was raised right and despise Nazis. But weāre in this mess in no small part because of the billionaires and wannabes, so Iām getting tired of picking less-bad when we should be running a real champion for progressive ideas to help raise working people.
