Net neutrality and carbon offsets/credits are you wanting to reduce pollution by not going to work with a car each day, and instead of buying a bike, you pay your coworker to do so instead.
The result as far as pollution goes is exactly the same - one less car user. The environment doesn’t care one diddly squat that it’s not actually you personally biking each day.
