Trump was discussing the Iran war and the resulting high gas prices that have become a midterm liability for Republicans during his remarks in Nebraska when he mentioned the possibility of an Iranian attack on U.S. soil.

“It’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe,” he said of the war and its economic fallout. “They can take out a city. Let ’em take out Los Angeles, let ’em take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay.”

Still, at least one Republican politician shared Newsom’s interpretation.

“As a Navy veteran, I served to protect Americans, not write off American cities as an acceptable price of war,” Jim Desmond, the Republican congressional nominee in a metro San Diego district, wrote on social media, adding that “no American family should ever be treated as collateral damage.”

Case in point why Donald is less popular than Jimmy Carter, of all people. After November people are going to compare him to 2008 Dubya or 2012 Obama, because it will no longer be deniable that his behavior, demeanor, and political choices have made him a historical liability for his party.

Also, I’m so sick of the gaslighting. We’ve seen the Nazi salutes. We’ve heard every word this demented turd has said publicly. You can’t put the genie back in the bottle.

On the plus side, this apparent spite on Donald’s part is a good reminder that you still have meaningful local power, as we’ve seen in LA, Portland, Chicago, and Minneapolis earlier this year.

An oligarchy typically have a very specific set of roles, mostly to keep industries out of govt hands so the people can not benefit, and in the hands of the corrupted that will use income and benefits of those industries to the advantage of the ruling party or authoritarian, and they act as a sort of temporary bank for said party and/or authoritarian. All you have to do is break the piggy bank and collect the funds or resources of the industries in question. Throwing them out a window is a popular method. The upside of being an oligarch is you get to live in opulence, you get power beyond your normal capacity and capabilities, your family is well taken care of, and very likely in many cases you really can’t say no to the opportunity, so extending your existence day by day a little further as the authoritarian sees fit at their pleasure tends to be the more desirable option.

With that in mind, our American oligarchy are doing their jobs very well. If their job is to help the American people, they suck at their jobs, but that isn’t their job. Their job isn’t to innovate, or to tend an industrial garden - it’s to extract wealth, maintain and grow power. Most of them are successful there.

What the orange goblin said was perfectly clear. He does not care about anyone or any entire region that doesn’t vote for him.

He is a president that does not work for all Americans, he works for himself and MAGA only.

He may have been trying to explain but he’s too fucking stupid to string a coherent sentence together. I also heard that clip and it certainly didn’t sound that way to me. He sounded like he wanted them to be made an example and the crowd ate it up.
