CIA is the main US military intelligence arm. They have their own dedicated Wikipedia article on publicly exposed projects that they most definitely did domestically.

Yeah MK ultra involved some CIA agents just going around and roofying random or targeted people with LSD and various other substances while also tripping themselves pretty much just for the fuck of it.
