There’s a lot to say about the protests then but honestly I have seen zero convincing evidence that tanks were used in this way. (Specifically, to “mash” a number of people into “paste” to later be “washed down the drain”.)

Seems like an ahistorical lie pushed by propaganda, which would weaken any legitimate criticism you might have. Better to be accurate. But I’m open to any sources you might have.

Bad faith tankie apologists will deny anything and change the goalposts to whatever suits their purposes.

Of course not. I’m not saying nobody died or nothing happened… I’m just specifically disputing this claim I’ve heard that they ran over a large number of people and “washed them down the drain”. There’s a few photos such as your link that show an isolated person or two who had been run over, but nothing to the extent of the claims that they had “mashed” hundreds or thousands and “washed” them away.

Yes, ignore the stark reality of the Chinese government painted by the facts presented and instead focus on the hyperbole used to relate the digusting discontempt displayed by said facts. Surely this is a great way to engage with the truth of the matter.

I hope you’re just painfully socially inept, and if that’s the case I sincerely apologize for this. But I suspect the hyperfocus on linguistic flair instead of the message is to intentionally mislead, so fuck off, tankie.
