While the cold war is passing out of living memory, the chill that it left on American leftism for the better part of 100 years is hard to overstate.
The Cold War ended in 1991, what are you talking about?

Right, because guns weren’t used to settle disputes in America until very recent history. /s
Respectful, I disagree. I’ve learned a lot from people making small comments like that, even when they’re unintentionally blunt.
Helpful by sharing information they believed to be true, that they thought you might not have heard/known. I don’t see any malice in their post or any expectation that you change what you’re doing.
I don’t think that was meant as criticism, it seemed like they were trying to be helpful.
Awesome keeb, BTW!
What did you program your knobs to do? All of the above?
Leaving your job qualifies as a “life changing event” and allows you to sign up for private insurance under ACA. You don’t need to wait for open enrollment.
You know, you can pay for private health insurance if you don’t have a job. And if you have an emergency fund or (micro) retirement fund, it should include funds for health insurance.
Right? If it’s in drinking water, why wouldn’t it also be in beer?
They’re just saving face. If Trump wanted Musk around, he would stick around. Whether that’s in DOGE or some other part of government.
After all the laws Trump has broken, you think that’s the line he won’t cross?
There are several ways. There could be a vulnerability in one of the underlying algorithms, in the crypto system, or in the implementation.
I’m not saying signal isn’t secure, but encryption can absolutely be hacked.
Was it sold as pure NaCl? Probably not…
I think you misinterpreted the tone of my posts, they weren’t meant to be spiteful or imply that you’re advocating for anything bad. I was just trying to point out that sometimes it’s easier to avoid conflict, even if you feel your actions are justified.
Have a nice day.
I know how credit bureaus work. How often are you doing this that you’re able to find the forms, fill them out, and submit them all within seconds? Not to mention logging in to your accounts…
Even if you’re doing this all the time, it will still take longer than resetting the AC unit before you leave. I don’t know why some people seem to seek out conflicts…
OK, but my point was that the hotel will have washed their hands of your debt by the time it’s at a collections agency. How much time does it take you to dispute a collection note on your credit report? I’d guess it takes less time to take the AC unit out of service mode before you check out.
and see if they really want to waste their time with collections
It would be the collections agency who’s time would be spent in court, not the hotel’s. And collection agencies are in the business of collecting debt, so I don’t think they would see it as a waste of time.
Based on its name, I have to assume the EU Data Act only applies in the EU. So this will still be an issue for anyone who doesn’t live in the EU.
I might be mixing her up with someone else, but I think she’s a progressive activist and has never been involved in running the company. She’s not an exec, she’s an heiress.
