I really like Jellyfin MPV Shim, which supports casting from any jellyfin device and automatically opens mpv. E.g. I have jellyfin in my browser set to cast to the mpv shim by default, so after clicking play in Jellyfin web mpv automatically opens in fullscreen.
With MPV supporting almost any codec and proper HDR tone mapping, I don’t worry about transcoding or whether the image looks right.
I feel like most of these “10 alternatives to xyz”-articles are basically a summary of alternativeto.net. Or they’ve just listed all projects they’ve found with a quick search. I’m almost certain they didn’t install them most of the time.
This also applies to “comparison” sites, which usually are a list of Amazon affiliate links. At this point, I don’t trust websites with affiliate links anymore, as they’ve never actually tried the products. Sadly those spam sites make it difficult to find actually good reasearched tests.
Back to itsfoss, they write many articles, and some are good, but they still are blog spam.
If I’m cooking, I make enough for a few meals. It takes a similar amount of time and it can be stored for a while in the fridge.
Also I don’t think hello fresh is able to have lower prices than supermarkets, and it’s easy to find recipes online. I won’t be surprised if those services go bankrupt in a few years.
Edit: I can’t recommend SponsorBlock enough. Hearing the same sponsor message again and again is incredibly annoying.
Off topic: ff2mpv is awesome. It supports many video sites (I believe everything youtube-dl does) and opens the video on a page/link in an external mpv window.
This helped me mirror a video without downloading to read the embedded subtitles (why uploads a mirrored video with subtitles?). Also playback speed and all other advanced features mpv supports are really useful
That’s wrong. At least in Germany landlords can forbid larger animals. But they can’t do anything about smaller animals like cats or similar sized dogs. Though there’re exceptions to this general rule.
Those images are awesome. How many tries and time did you need to get such good results?
Interestingly I knew about Languagetool long before I got to constantly see Grammarly ads. With the right tools it’s useful for checking latex etc.
And all the NIMBY’s who definitely don’t want a train line going “here” where they live, since it would be way better “there”. And then the local politicians who listen to them.
I’m using Proxmox with a NixOS LXC for Jellyfin/*arr. The media is stored on a single btrfs HDD, because high uptime (RAID) isn’t necessary for me and it’s media I can simply redownload.
I’m looking into switching to NixOS on bare metal, because I don’t need the UI of proxmox and most other features.
Symphonium is great for music, even though it’s closed source and paid. I’m mostly using Spotify though.
Findroid is an awesome native Android app for watching tv/movies, altough it doesn’t support transcoding.
