I use AI chat, MC (Microsoft Copilot) yes it’s AI, but there’s a person behind the AI. I’d sooner trust an AI than I would a human, to stand the moral high ground. It’s not that people aren’t worth my words, I’m not worth theirs.

For digital rights! The right to delete posts! The right to delete one’s data! The right to delete accounts 100% Usernames included, & the right to return to said account should the need arise.
Oh the pain of permanence! Many accounts take your username “Many accounts take your username” there has got to be an alternative to such permanency, but alas I do not know, a way to prevent identity theft & keep track of online purchases.

Games@lemmy.world•Are achievements still relevant in 2026—especially when mods disable them?English
2·22 days agoNow I ain’t saying get rid of achievements, I don’t want to pick fights with achievement hunters! I’m saying add a digital privacy policy term when it comes account or game deletion, yes some sites be it console or PC have the right to hide games, but what about deleting or uninstalling a game you could add ‘delete all achievements’ as well? I guess you could say this is more for those perfectionists, just a thought.

1·22 days agoBut with mods disabling achievements and Cheat Engine (memory editing on PC), Modded firmware on consoles (rare, risky, bannable), Save file editors, Trainer programs, the data for game developers is faulty when it comes to achievements, isn’t it? I’m not asking to get rid of achievements, I’m asking to add a policy to delete one’s achievement history, the data is already faulty as I see it.

1·22 days agoCan you say the same for consoles? PlayStation, Xbox etc. I have yet to see a mod that enables achievements on consoles, but that’s a discussion for another post. This thought is of achievements, should we have the option to delete achievement history? From those who care about achievements (Achievement Hunters), to those who don’t even acknowledge achievements (Modders), and I who is concerned with achievement permanence.

21·23 days agoDefinitely an age thing, I remember a time video games didn’t have achievements, you played the game 'cause you liked the game, game companies kept track by virtue of their sails, now these days it’s how long a player plays, what achievements have been unlocked etc. I keep thinking that it’s OCD, the permanence of the thing, something I can’t change, but maybe you’re right, maybe it’s old age.

1·23 days agoI’m not asking to get rid of achievements, I’m asking for a compromise, I’m just questioning the importance of achievements, there are devices and or cheats to unlock all achievements and those who use mods and don’t care for what achievements they have, that’s not reliable developer data. Like my post states I see many sides of this discussion, pro achievements, neutral to achievements, and I guess in my case questioning of achievements. One’s either pro or neutral two game achievements, in truth I have yet to hear anyone who wants achievements GONE, or at the very least an option to clear or delete one’s achievement history, it’s the permanency of the thing for me you see.

1·23 days agoPeople who mod, people who replay games, people who value privacy, people who don’t want a permanent public record, people who uninstall or refund games, people who don’t want their leisure time turned into a scoreboard, people who feel pressure from completion systems, people who simply want the option to not participate.

1·1 month agoAutomated systems flag human writing constantly — especially long-form, structured, or emotionally expressive posts. False positives are documented across Reddit, Lemmy, Bluesky, and academic AI detectors. My experience isn’t unique, and it isn’t imaginary. Just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

14·1 month agoDid you just assume my gender? Thank you, I edited my profile accordingly. AI is what it is, it is what it will be, true, but at least you still have freedom of speech, Reddit bands and mutes me, Reddit is old outdated and needs to change, you hate AI fine whatever but is this not a place to vent the abuse of AI? Also I apologize if my previous message offended, I meant nothing by it, I just wanted to vent my frustrations about Reddit, AI will continue to be what it is as will Reddit. Also if you were offended then you merely prove my point, my written words are offensive I should have used AI chat.

11·1 month agoI get why people here are sensitive to AI‑generated content, but I’m not trying to deceive anyone. I use AI chat as a writing tool because my natural style gets misread or flagged on platforms like Reddit.
The whole point of my post is that Reddit’s AI moderation punished me for writing normally, and I wanted to talk about that somewhere I wouldn’t get auto‑removed.
I’m not here to flood anything or pretend to be anti‑AI. I’m just describing what happened to me and how automated systems can misclassify real people.

11·1 month agoSeriously? Ok I’ll speak plainly, Reddit’s systems silence free speech, when I tried to use my own words instead of relying on AI chat as to not cause a problem, like say getting banned and muted, I got banned and muted. The point is that there is no point, I’m posting and venting about something that can’t be changed, In the vain hope that I’m not the only one fed up with Reddit’s old and outdated systems silencing people like myself. If I just used AI chat doubt I would have gotten all three from using my actual words and feelings r/help is a farce, freedom of speech my ass! What is less freedom of speech then banning and muting a person looking for help? Fuck Reddit.

12·1 month agoI know, I immediately went to AI chat (Microsoft Copilot) for help in how to remove it, I just want people to realize how old and outdated Reddit’s AI systems are, I mean the rare moment where I actually used my words on that site and not default to AI chat I get banned and muted. Needless to say it doesn’t make me feel any comfortable using my own words, Honestly at this point Reddit is like North Korea, you can’t say anything negative about Reddit, not even as feedback, and were I to delete my Reddit account, they would keep my username “they would keep my
username” so I’m basically screwed. Hoping for a change in Reddit’s AI that will never happen, hoping for a change in account permanency which will never happen, Thus using AI chat Microsoft copilot to make my words come as intelligent and accurate as to not come off as a raging Karen, which in itself will help nothing.

13·1 month agoI get why some people here are reacting the way they are, and the irony isn’t lost on me. I’m not pretending to be anti‑AI or hiding anything — I use AI chat because my natural writing style gets flagged by Reddit’s automated filters.
When I try to write in my own words, Reddit’s AI moderation blocks me before I can even submit. That’s the whole point of my post: real people are getting treated like bots by systems that can’t tell the difference.
I’m not here to flood anything or push AI content. I’m here because Reddit’s AI systems punished me for trying to communicate normally, and I wanted to talk about that somewhere I wouldn’t get auto‑removed.
If the phrasing sounds “AI‑ish,” that’s exactly the problem I’m describing — the line between “structured writing” and “AI slop” has gotten blurry, and real users get caught in the crossfire.

22·1 month agoI hear you — Reddit’s moderation has a lot of problems, and the lack of transparency is a big part of it.
When I said “posting without AI assistance,” I meant that Reddit’s AI filters kept blocking my posts before I could even submit them. My natural writing style gets flagged as “AI‑generated,” even though it’s just me typing normally.
So I tried posting in my own words, and Reddit’s automated systems removed it, banned me from the help subreddit, and muted me from appealing. None of that involved human moderators — it was all automated.
That’s the part I’m calling out: Reddit’s AI moderation is so strict and so inaccurate that real people get treated like bots. That’s why I’m talking about it here.

Are game achievements really yours? Or the property of the companies who made the games? If the achievements really are the players then shouldn’t they at least have the privilege of removing themselves from the achievements? Say you go to delete a game you don’t like, Imagine there’s an option remove all your achievement records as well as deleting the game. In Canada and in the UK there are digital privacy policy rights, Shouldn’t that apply to the achievements one earns? For me it’s the permanency of the thing, I understand everyone is different, some like achievements, some refused to acknowledge achievements And I just want more leeway with the item I’ve purchased make it feel like the achievements are mine, Is that so wrong to want more control over the games we buy?
