Yup, just got a Kobo and absolutely love the Pocket integration… I hope some alternative is implemented…
A living edge case. I love it.
That cat clearly belongs to Jeff Dabe.
The trick is to not maintain stern eye contact with your neighbor while taking a wee in the flowerbed. Classic rookie mistake really, we’ve all been there.
Can i ask where in the world you’re from? I’m personally from Denmark where tattoos are pretty common – i have some myself. But as i’ve come to learn, the perception of tattoos differ widely around the world.
Nope - chronically fearful babyyy B)
I mean no disrespect… But what is this dish supposed to be? I feel like i’m having a stroke looking at it
Ah okay, thanks for the answer.
I used to be an avid Linux user a couple of years back – but had to move to macos due to work. I however soon have the freedom to move back soon. Just out of cursiosity, do you know why people are recommending Mint over Ubuntu now?
I have no horse in the race, i’m just curious what changed as when i used Linux last time you would be recommended Ubuntu 95% of the time.
Wait how? I’m not sure i follow - if i committed such a stupid mistake i’m genuinely interested in understanding how :) Btw don’t block feddit.dk it’s just a danish focused instance with a lot of kind folks :)
Yes – you should definetely segment away politics from some parts of your life. You should not fully disengage with it, but take a breather every now and then. Go for a walk, talk with some people about a hobby you enjoy despite your differences or just take a prolonged toilet break.
I find it infinitely exhausting that it seems like everything online these days evolves into a political discussion. I recently saw someone asking about how they can make more time for reading in their day – someone mentioned that they read in the morning when working from home while having their morning coffee. And someone barged in and were like “Oh MuSt Be NiCE to HAve ThE TiMe FOR ThaT! No, soMe of Us Have To CommUTE 2 HouRS each way DaiLY BeCAuSe Of LAte StAGe CaPItalisM”. And then it evolved into some revolutionary eat the rich stuff from there – which i for the most part can follow.
But it was a post about asking how to make more time for reading… How did it end up with revolution? I personally believe the main problem with injecting politics into everything is that it becomes predictable and bland. Just like my example above. It’s an interesting discussion for sure! But perhaps don’t force it down everyone’s throat all the time. It’s like that friend who has a hobby that they just wont stop talking about all. the. fucking. time. It dissolves the seriousness of the discussion and makes other people tired of it.
Again, i’m not saying abstain or fully disengage from politics. But for gods sake, let people take a break every now and then if they’re able to do so, and for five minutes just focus on something joyful eventho everything is going to shit at the moment.
I don’t mind a lot of the arguments against; but this might be enough to make me switch to something else: https://lukesmith.xyz/articles/matrix-vs-xmpp/#-matrix-is-linked-to-israeli-intelligence-
Element?
Element! :D
I’m fully aware of the relationship between Matrix and Element as well as alternative clients existing. I actually find it kinda hard to communicate about. Whenever i say something like “i sent you a link on Matrix” the few people i use Matrix with get confused. People are used to referring to app/client-names: fb messenger, outlook, iMessage (even if i’m sending an sms) and not the underlying technology.
I’ve tried explaining it like email - you can register an email somewhere and access it through several email clients. But i mean, people who’s not as much into software as i (and i suspect you as well due to your fine recommendations) – and still refers to their email as “outlook” – they can have a hard time wrapping their head around that relationship. An app is just an app… Right?
The reason i referred to it as “element” in my comment, was because the comment i replied to referred to it as Element tho.
What’s the reasons against Element :)? Currently testing it with some friends of mine, before trying to lure my family on it instead of iMessage. So would be interested in why you don’t think it’s feasible.
The design of that page makes it a bit too satisfying watching the tracker go up. Like watching an xp bar in a mmo bar go up or something. I’m almost rooting for it despite despising everything it stands for…
Making children :) Having children :(
For context, the two characters on the cake also looks like “bamse” and “kylling” from the danish childrens tv show: “bamse og kylling”. So i think it’s legit enough - perhaps from some danish baker.
I’ve seen it once in Denmark actually. But it was a severely mentally challenged kid on a train station where the parents had them in a leash. Looked weird when you’re not used to it, but I guess I can understand that one use case.
