Yep I saw that when it was disassembled. But as I use this one with my 2013 MacBook Pro, which has USB A Ports I think I’m good for now :)

Yes you are right. Designing a holder or cover for it to hold it in place wouldn’t be a problem for me once it’s soldered in (especially as there are two little screws holding a plastic surrounding of the 30pin I could repurpose). But I don’t have the tools and skill to solder something that small…
Thank you! Actually I didn’t know him, thanks for adding a link!
Thank you :)
Thanks! Actually I looked up if that’s possible somehow, but unfortunately it seems not. Or at least not in an easy way
Hmm… yes you are probably right. There are DBrand decals that look like the interior, but I know that’s just not the same…
You mean like those old GameBoys? The bottom side would look pretty cool, but i could imagine the back of the display would look a bit boring. But that sounds like an interesting project. Do such shells even exist?
Hmm… The zune never was a big thing in Europe, so I never actually saw one in real life. But as far as I know the memory-chip is soldered on, so I don’t think there is an easy way to upgrade. The battery is said to be replaceable though. I don’t mind what hardware one is using. It has to fit your needs, not everyone’s. For me the iPod was the one thing I always had with me since I got it in 2005(?), so for me there is a heavy nostalgic factor that got me to do this.
Thank you! Yes I too wanted to have my local music library on a portable device. That’s the reason I never threw away my iPod even though the HDD was defective since like 2010. I always thought :“one day…“ and now I am super happy :)
Yep you got it :) I wanted to spend as less money as possible. And even with the 6$ card the iPod feels way faster than before. I don’t need 1TB for my music library, so that setup was the best choice for me. I also had a 128GB microSD laying around, but 64GB is more than enough for me.
Hopefully one day the will make a new Mini with a camera that sits flat in the back…
I have now made some good experiences with sites like rebuy.de. Refurbished devices with up to 3 years of warranty.
You mean what URL I am using?
That one works for me (it’s the German site). It’s not pretty at all, but at least it avoids installing the app.
Oh I use plenty… dict.cc; TikTok; Astroprint; Octoprint and Printables; Xing; LinkedIn; eBay; Etsy; AliExpress; Idealo; Chefkoch; pkmn.help (very beautiful web app btw…); and so on. I got rid of any App I don’t trust and/or where the web app gets the job done.
Hmm… If i am Reading this right, my problem could have been, that my iCloud mail wasn’t created more than 30days ago. I will definitely try that.
I just wonder why apple support didn’t came up with that…
I will update once I tried (iCloud email is currently about 6/7 days old, so I will have to wait a while)
Oh and Thanks for that suggestion!
BTW… If your Apple ID is linked to something other than an iCloud Mail keep in mind that you won’t be able to switch to an iCloud mail address as primary address for your Apple ID. I did all this transition last week and spoke to apple for like an hour. They told me there is no way to switch. So now my gmail is like the user name for my Apple ID, every mail that is sent to gmail now gets forwarded to an hide my mail email. The problem was, that „hide my mail“ mails get normally forwarded to your primary Apple ID Mail address, in my case the gmail address. So what I did now was creating an iCloud mail over my iPhone‘s iCloud settings and then went to iCloud.com on my browser, where you then are able to switch the „hide my mails“ recipient address to the just created iCloud mail. Pretty complicated solution, but the only way to at least kind of get rid of my gmail address…
I managed to do so very easy. I set up my google mail in my iPad (in apples own mail app). I then also set up my iCloud mail. I waited for my whole account to download all of my gmail emails (like 20 years of mails). Then I just selected all and moved them into iCloud inbox. The mails were in my iCloud inbox (on iPad) nearly instantly, I was really amazed. Of course it took its time until it was all synced to my iCloud Storage and then downloaded to my phone, but it worked pretty easy actually. And it even got all the dates from my old mails right. Couldn’t have worked any better!
Edit: oh and I did this for 3 gmail accounts now. When I was done, I set up email forwarding to apples „hide my mail“ feature in all of them and selected delete gmail mail version after forwarding. This way I still get mails sent to my old mail accounts, without google knowing my new iCloud mail. Definitely recommend this.
Perfekt! That was the solution! Thank you very much!
Logged off from my Apple ID on my iPad, then instantly re-logged in and went to iCloud -> Configure iCloud Mail -> and I then was able to create an iCloud mail without any problems
Thanks! It really isn’t that hard to do. It’s important to just take your time, be patient and don’t use much force. There are really good tutorials out there you can watch before doing this, so you are prepared really good. And if there are questions, I know a good community here on Lemmy where you can ask ;)
