Exactly I completely agree. But it’s an obvious move to fill the pockets of politicians because they own stocks in Meta and meta has been lobbying against tiktok for years.

Of course and they are. My point is people hate in tiktok all the time because it’s Chinese and because they harvest data while ignoring the fact Facebook/Instagram snapchat etc are all doing the same stuff and they don’t get met with a ban.

I agree! I think algorithms made with a profit incentive are harmful. I also think tiktok has been super impactful in a positive way to bring people together in a more human way than traditional sm allows for.

It’s an algorithm based social media platform. There’s so much on there beside what you see from clips etc. Just like anything else.

Yeah I genuinely see no difference between tiktok and other social media. Everyone on reddit/lemmy loves to hate on tiktok I never really got why. If it’s because of data collection they’re doing nothing any different than Facebook, insta, etc. Now X, that’s another story lol.
