The relevant question is not if there are better ways to reduce one’s negative impact (because obviously there are) and also not if Ecosia is perfect (because obviously it is not). The relevant question is how much environmental damage using Ecosia does compared to using other search engines and how good the search results are.

I respect your opinion and don’t think you are arguing in bad faith. However, I think you are missing the central point. Which -in my opinion- is that a social media platform that turns out to have extremely negative effects on society and especially kids, should get shut down. If it happens with intent or without is not particularly relevant as far as I see it. I apologize if my initial comments were phrased in any misleading way, I am not a native speaker so I sometimes miss the finer nuances of certain formulations.

Seriously? it took me one google search to find an endless list of such articles. Also, did you not notice all the kids outside filming Tik Tok dances with their phones, it has been going on for many years now, how is it possible you did not notice it?

Yes but unlike Facebook and other platforms, Tik Tok is aimed at and consumed by minors specifically.

That sounds like a strawman argument tbh. I didn’t say anything along those lines. I in fact agree that electric cars are better, just like smaller cars are better too but the basic problem, that they are cars, always remains. What improves cities the most is reducing the number of cars and rededicating streets and parking lots to sidewalks, bike paths, gardens and public parks.

In urban environments we don´t need different cars, we need less cars.

I envy your optimism.

That is of course very sweet of you and I understand it on a personal level. You love your dog and would do anything for him and so you even wish he could live infinitely if that was possible. However, maybe you could also try to understand my reasoning as well? I was talking about human/canine society as a whole and if all humans and/or dogs would get to live, let´s say, twice as long or even become immortal, that would lead to severe problems regarding overpopulation, don´t you agree?
