If there’s one thing I learned this year it’s that we can’t underestimate how many users a good app will give a website. There are plenty of people I’ve seen over the years who didn’t even know reddit was a website.

Every complaint about the users is a complaint you can make about every other online community 🙄 Just go through the effort of blocking the jerks and the communities/instances they congregate and spawn from.

I don’t know about ChromeOS but the good news with the majority of Chromebooks I know about is that you can still install linux on them if you want. The bad news is that at their price point you might as well just buy a used or new but low end laptop if you’re gonna do that.

Obviously that’s not good news is you explicitly want chromeos but the hardware at least won’t be bricked if they decide to trash their chromeos services.

For what it’s worth Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit was more stable for me than XP.
