I’ve not been in school for a long time, but I am doing a distance learning course and when I had to submit some written stuff I definitely found it more comfortable to type it up in an actual word processor than the web platform that only showed about a paragraph at a time, so I did that and then copied it to the web platform.

In the test here, it literally only handled text. Doctors can do that. And if you need a doctor to check its work in every case, it has saved zero hours of work for doctors.

Usually to do work that needs done but does not need the direct attention of the more skilled person. The assistant can do that work by themselves most of the time. In the example above, the assistant is doing all of the most challenging work and then the doctor is checking all of its work

At least here in the UK a lot of larger supermarkets give you the option of taking a little handheld scanner with you and doing it as you shop. When you go to the till you just scan a barcode that’s on the till and it connects the till to the scanner so you can pay for everything. I don’t personally use it because I’m too disorganised a person to pack as I go and also remember to scan everything, but it’s fairly popular. It typically exists as an alternative way of using the self checkouts, the option to scan everything at the checkout itself is still there

It’s not like “they” are some unknown quantity though, it’s the Facebook people. It’s not weird or unreasonable for people to not want the company that got fined literally a billion euros for data privacy violations just a couple of months ago to get involved in a thing they like
