I really don’t get why automotive electronics makers are allergic to having a proper UX team, other than no one else in the industry has one either so it’s not a competitive disadvantage.

I work in industry with MediaTek chips. We basically have to reverse engineer them to get anything done, because they refuse to give us anything, and what they do give us doesn’t work.

The main problem with a mini PC is a lot of streaming services won’t serve you 4k content. Not an issue if you get your content from other sources though.

I don’t know that the second part would succeed. I feel like it’d end up with the same contractor structure, but now the contractors are whoever’s company bought the right senators.

I should just let this go, but part of what offends me about vaping is that people will do it instead of smoking in spaces where smoking is explicitly banned. Since it’s smoking adjacent to me mentally (and to a limited extent in causing harm to third parties), I dislike that. And we do ban things like perfume in gyms because it causes unreasonably unpleasant experiences for the people around you, and I shower after grilling or frying if I’m going out, because it is unpleasant for the people around me. It’s different degrees of unpleasantness for everything, but I don’t think it’s unfair for me to dislike people blowing vape clouds in my face indoors.

Just saying that second hand vaping exposure seems to be something that isn’t well understood, but potentially harmful. Just like how vaping is proving not to be harmless to the paper these days. That’s what differentiates it from those other smells you’re mentioning to me.

Vaping has associated the smell of cotton candy with assholes who can’t keep their smelly (and potentially dangerous) substance abuse away from unconsenting people, because they think no one will mind because it smells like cotton candy.

Edit: I legitimately prefer the smell of cigarettes at this point. At least no one’s deluding themselves about the social acceptability of that.

It takes literally no effort with ProjectIvy. It’s just a menu selection in the new launcher to set it as default.

When I tried FLauncher it didn’t have that convenient selection, and I’d have to adb in to set it as default. So I didn’t end up using it.

Same for cheap TVs these days btw, their home page ads are why they’re able to sell you a decent quality 85" TV for under $2k.

On the Nvidia shield side, they’ve started adding more and more ads lately, which is completely unexcusable. Thankfully it’s not hard to use alternative launchers.

Anyway, proportional is nice, but really you need a progressive system to really match the weight of punishments, as far as impacting your daily life or happiness.

The HAMR/MAMR are exactly what I’m talking about. It is obviously unproven, but you can get new 20/22tb CMR HDDs now for 17.5¢ per GB very regularly, not counting sales. They’re what I’m currently running, and the normal price has dropped something close to 20% in the last year alone.

The next advance on HDDs literally came last year. 20tb+ drives are available at ever decreasing prices these days, after being stalled at 16/18tb for a good few years.

… I don’t know what you mean that beyond a certain length it’s impractical. I keep 6-10ft USB C cables everywhere. I view 3 feet as the minimum useful length to me, at least because honestly much shorter than I don’t even have a place to rest my phone while it charges. I was looking at even getting a 15-20 foot cable for my living room since all my outlets are kinda far from the couch.

Larger screens are harder to use one handed though. I really just want a screen sized to be used one handed by most people. I’d also argue that with Swype and similar stuff, typing on a keyboard really doesn’t need that much accuracy these days.

I wish Linux was an option for me, but Adobe software is what has me stuck, and there’s no Steam pushing for that to be properly supported… And migrating my Lightroom catalog to another software would be an absolute nightmare.
