Indeed. I don’t get it.

I prefer an aux cable headset. No charging, no connection issues, and the quality is always 100%. You will also never have compatibility issues.
Might not be for you, but just a thought.
First off, you are not pathetic, the world is depressing. And just having the intent to do this is a great start. Be kind to yourself, no one else can do that for you.
The first thing to do is forget all of those grand ideas about having a giant garden with all sorts of produce. Even if that is your end goal, don’t think about that! It will only demotivate you, because it seems so far away from where you are now.
The second thing to do is go to your local library and get some books about gardening. The simpler the better, is they have gardening books for kids then start with those.
Read those books. Take some easy examples, like herbs, lettuce, or garlic. Start small, and don’t overdo yourself. Try to enjoy what you are doing, and stay with the present task. Don’t push yourself immediately to do more.
Let that enjoyment be your guide. If you can focus on feeling good about what you are doing, then the rest will come without effort.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why are so many people still fine with using "The C Word" despite it being officially a derogatory slur towards women?
8·3 months agoThis. Exactly this. Thank you.
But it’s obviously a joke. (at least to me)
That means that the text in no way represents anyone’s opinion, it’s sole purpose is entertainment. If anything, it’s a jab at the people that claim to do things because of the idiotic and meaningless “alpha” label, not an endorsement of sloth.
I believe this is what the old folks refer to as a “joke”.
It is an ancient form of communication, the goal of which is to induce laughter in the recipients. Factual accuracy is often not a concern, and in fact many jokes lack peer review of any kind.
No, it’s fedora.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•People with bad/no hearing, can you "hear" yourself chewing when you eat?
281·4 months agoI’m not deaf, but just in case you don’t get an answer that stems from personal experience:
Your hearing loss in the one ear is (I’m assuming) caused by the ear canal being blocked. Your sensory organ still hears you chewing because the sound is transferred through the bones of your skull to your ear.
A deaf person has a different problem: their sensory organ is damaged or missing, so it doesn’t matter where the sound comes from, they don’t hear it.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it homophobic to hate girls’ love content because you find girls kissing to be gross?
10·4 months agoPersonal Taste ≠ Bigotry
It is ridiculous to think that anyone has to like or prefer something. That’s like saying there is something wrong for not liking the taste of licorice. If she thinks two girls kissing is gross, that’s fine, she is allowed to feel how she feels. If she thinks that two girls kissing is wrong on some moral or ethical level she is being a bigot.
There is a huge difference there, and it is extremely important in today’s world to understand this difference.
You should try this out. I haven’t tried it myself, but I’ve been meaning to.

That’s a good point, habit is a powerful thing, and so is generational experience.
I like my BT headphones for doing things like vacuuming around the house. There are definitely advantages to wireless. But when I’m on the PC I’m happy to just plug in and forget.
