They’re both guilty of imperialism on a world wide scale and all the evils that includes, but aside from it’s early days the US has generally been a better neighbour by pointing their evil overseas, Russia has largely been a menace to it’s neighbours in every era of history. I don’t count being polite in public small talk, I mean things like being at a party where you don’t know anybody, work events, ceremonial events, those kinds of small, short hells.

Talking random bullshit with someone you know well is great, performative socially masked pleasantries specifically chosen for their generality, and uncontroversial nature is immensely draining emotionally and mentally.
