I have used 1Blocker for years and have been relatively content. I may be grandfathered into a lower price of like $5/yr, though. So I’m not sure about the cost being worth it for a newcomer who can’t get a deal like that.
I don’t want thinner I want lighter.
I’m old enough to remember this bullshit!
Christ for everything I enjoy about the iPhone, simple things like making Google Maps default eluding the device just negates so much of it.
I’ve been using Overcast for a couple years and it’s got some nice features.
Seriously. As soon as I acclimate to all the new quirks, they push a new version that changes it again. And then you think, “am I crazy or is this worse?” Feel like every year I’m getting gaslit.
Mlem has been great and just gets better.
This is the most simp-y shit I’ve ever heard of. You don’t bail out a billionaire.
Seems like the big takeaway from the pair of articles on this matter is to be sure to play in full screen mode.
When I upgraded from 27 to 32, it was incredible how quickly it felt like the right size.
I don’t know why OP posted this without sharing a link.

Good luck amigo
I had an issue for a while where I would get that buzz or (if I wasn’t in silent mode) I’d get the default tri tone, but with no notification to speak of. It drove me mad.
Eventually I went through my notifications settings app-by-app and made sure what I wanted to know about was switched on, and what I didn’t care about was off (so many apps that in general I don’t need to hear from until I’m doing a rare and specific activity—like airlines).
I also paid attention to how the notifications were delivered (banner, badges, Lock Screen, sounds, etc). It took a minute, but after doing that, the issue disappeared.
So somewhere in the jungle of notification settings there was an offender, and I squashed it. Hope you can do the same.
Apple Emergency SOS via Satellite. Story is based off this tweet.
Widely reported they’ve shaken businesses down for good reviews or to remove artificially-boosted bad reviews. I have no love for Google, but haven’t heard them fucking with local businesses in this manner. But beyond all of that, Yelp is an absolute bloated pain in the ass app/website.
I will switch to Apple Maps when they get rid of the Yelp integration in exchange for their own system for reviewing restaurants and other establishments. Yelp is an absolute garbage company, and is the main reason I stick with Google Maps still.
I’ve commented this elsewhere but it wouldn’t surprise me if they actually over engineer the replaceable battery and incorporate their MagSafe tech or something to make replacement batteries prohibitively expensive but technically follows EU rules. Seems like a very Apple malicious compliance outcome.
