  • I currently have Torbox and Debridio as a scraper while using Nuvio on all my devices and that setup works pretty well. Debridio is a yearly sub and pretty cheap. Torbox has a tier structure for their subs but essential is good enough for most people.

Warning however, all of the things I just mentioned are vibecoded so getting support is quite egregious. AI bros tend to get pretty insecure when you bring up the idea of Claude having made a mistake, even innocently.

And aside from getting support, the discord servers of these services are some of the worst discord has to offer. Everyone worth asking anything in the Torbox server, for instance, are incredibly immature. Not to mention the flagrant bigotry.

Just understand the kinds of people you’re gonna be talking to. A lot of them have some pretty serious god complexes, and I’m not bringing this up out of nowhere I’ve been a customer in this scene for years. But most importantly, abandon the idea of loyalty here. Sticking with one service will likely only hurt you, as enshittification consumes quickly in this scene. Good luck.

  • The scary implications being that any asshole with a Claude subscription can create something really cool in concept, but will more than likely end up abandoned in a few months when they inevitably give up (because this entire scheme is inherently short sighted) and all that’s left is a codebase so machine generated that likely no human would waste the monumental effort it would take to make it human readable- or logical to begin with.

“AI is a tool”- correct, it is a tool to scam people, and this certainly isn’t evidence to the contrary of that.

  • Not really, Bethesda games are mainly PC games so the market for console is always gonna be smaller. Their console versions are always inferior, lacking updates or even just the amount of polish compared to their PC counterparts. I played some of my favourite Bethesda games on console first and I can attest that console players have always been sort of second-class citizens in terms of priority.

I think Bethesda hands console players a shittier deal and most people just have to put up with that because even in the times we live in now a console is still cheaper in up-front costs than a PC capable of performing the same games at the same level.

  • TL;DR: This is impressive, however for me personally seeing cool Bethesda mods is so bittersweet at this point. Like imagine the kinds of things you could do if you put that effort into somewhere more appreciated. Idk.

I certainly don’t mean to insult anyone’s efforts, I imagine Bethesda games do offer some real value for budding game developers in the form of a very accessible entrypoint into modding and I think that’s great.

But what would be even better is if this company weren’t basically entirely surviving off the coat tails of their community of unpaid laborers. The only reason why these games are so moddable is because Bethesda as a company wouldn’t survive if they weren’t. The product being given by itself is so bad and Bethesda so inept that it compelled people to learn how to fix it themselves just to deliver on what could’ve been.

Bethesda basically sells you the idea of a game, delivers about 60% of it and then asks you to make up the difference. Anyone playing Skyrim or Fallout 4 could see how good those games could’ve been even with no prior game design knowledge, it’s just an innate feeling.

  • Ik it’s for clicks and solely in the headline but I must be a stickler about such things; Cracking may be hacking-adjacent but those two things are different. Hacking is infiltrating, cracking is manipulating, quite different if you ask me.

Considering Denuvo maintains a policy of non-refunds if their security is beaten, the seeming consistent defeat of its DRM threatens to make the entire product useless to video game publishers and developers, opening releases new and old to fresh vectors for piracy that they had paid to prevent.

This part is fucking hilarious though, especially considering I’ve heard Denuvo is quite expensive and they only keep increasing their licensing fees.

Although I’d be remiss not to mention the fact that Denuvo’s actual purpose is indeed to stall piracy, they know they can’t prevent it. Stop pirates from cracking their DRM for the most profitable few months of the game being out and I’d say most publishers are happy (even though that doesn’t make any sense outside of the deluded mind of a shareholder). In this, in most cases, they are successful. Irdeto did recently update Denuvo once again, but I say their days are numbered.
